Class 52(1) A castor wheel 10 is mounted on a bearing sleeve on an axle 11 which extends through slots 14 in plates 16, 17 connected integrally with a hollow spindle 22, cam plates 36, 37 pivoted to plates 16, 17 and having slots 41 being movable by means of a bar 42 to cause the wheel to move laterally so that it is engaged by braking surfaces 44, 45 secured to the spindle, the axle 11 having vertical play in the slots 14 so that the weight of the load is applied to the braking surface.
