Abstract

882,314. Thermal switches. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Nov. 13, 1959 [Nov. 26, 1958], No. 38105/58. Class 38 (5). A snap - acting bimetal disc 6 acts through a rod 8 on a slave disc 9 carrying a central contact 11 which co-operates with a fixed contact 15, and the periphery of which co-operates with a concentric contact 22. Contacts 15, 22 are mounted in a unitary assembly which is adjustably screwed in a casing 3. When the disc 6 moves down from the position shown the pressure on disc 9 is released and contacts 11, 15 separate, and the edge of disc 9 may slide inwards on to insulation 19. The switch may reset automatically on cooling of the disc 6, or a sleeve encircling the casing may be depressed against spring action to engage tongues on the disc 6 which is thus snapped back again (Complete Figure).
