[Also in Group XXVI] Gas is intermittently supplied to the main burner 6 of a flashing beacon, under the control of a valve 5, from a chamber 10 by way of a diaphragm-operated pressure-regulating valve 21, a conduit 12 in which is a cock 13, and a chamber 1 that houses the valve 5; a pilot burner 18 is also supplied from conduit 12. The valve 5 is actuated by a cam 4 driven from a spiral spring 2 having an escapement 3, the spring being wound through a ratchet wheel 16, and a rod and pawl 15 connected to a pulsating diaphragm motor, the diaphragm 8 of which is loaded on its upper face by a spring 17 and the gas pressure in chamber 1, whilst the operating pressure applied beneath the diaphragm is obtained from the chamber 10 and its entry into and exhaust from the motor is determined by a double valve-closure 9 connected through a snap-action device 14 to the diaphragm. When the pressure under the diaphragm 8 has risen sufficiently the diaphragm is upwardly deflected and both moves the ratchet wheel 16 one tooth and causes the closure 9 to tilt thereby sealing a motor inlet 9a and opening the outlet 9b; the opposite action occurs when the diaphragm completes its return stroke. The motor outlet 9b is connected to conduit 12.
