Abstract
882,165. Air filters. FILTERWERK MANN & HUMMEL G.m.b.H. Aug. 19, 1960 [Aug. 22, 1959], No. 28734/60. Class 8(2). A filter element clogging-indicating device located in the filtered air chamber of an air intake filter comprises an open-ended piston 15, Fig. 2, connected by a flexible diaphragm 19 to a surrounding casing 12, 13 inset in the filter casing cover 5 and having one open end when in the normal operation fitting loosely over a guide sleeve 14 fixed to one end of the casing but is removed therefrom by the action of vacuum in the clean air chamber accompanied by blocking of the filter element 6, Fig. 1 (not shown), so as to occupy the position shown in Fig. 2, thereby enabling the coloured guide sleeve 14 to be observed through the windows 24; the piston 15 having a stem 16 extending through a bore 17 in the base of the casing 12 whereby the piston may be reseated over the sleeve 14 after renewal of the filter element.
