Abstract
881,454. Continuous casting - machines. BRITISH IRON & STEEL RESEARCH ASSOCIATION. (Centre National de Recherches Metallurgiques). March 28, 1958, No. 10053/58. Class 83 (1). Continuous casting apparatus comprises a mould 2 mounted for movement axially with the ingot on the occurrence of an increase of resistance to sliding between the ingot and the mould, a lever 10 supporting the mould, and resilient means 15 acting on the levers in a direction tending to move the mould in the direction opposite to the ingot movement. The speed of return of the mould when the increase to sliding resistance disappears is damped by means 18. The weight of the mould is counterbalanced by weights 22.
