Abstract

880,855. Valves. CONTROLS COMPANY OF AMERICA. Nov. 20, 1959, No. 39376/59. Class 135. A limit control for a fuel valve comprises means operable automatically to close a fuel valve in response to an abnormal condition and reset means operable to reset the control means while holding the fuel valve in a closed condition. A fuel valve 12 bears against the end of a bell crank lever 18 whose other end contacts a rod 22 which rests on an idler lever 24 pivoted at 26 to a toggle lever 28. The toggle lever pivots in notches 30 of a bracket 32 and is loaded by springs 36. A diaphragm 46 is mounted in a casing 40 to form a chamber connected by a capillary tube 42 to a sensing device of the abnormal condition, such as temperature, whereby with an increase in temperature, the diaphragm is flexed to push a button 48 to move the toggle lever in an anti-clockwise direction to close the valve. To reset the control, a lever 52 is depressed against an arm 58 of the idler lever 24 to move it in an anticlockwise direction about pivot 26 but such movement is prevented by the closed valve 12 and lever 18, whereby the pivot 26 moves in an anticlockwise direction about the point of contact of arm 58 and lever 52 and the toggle lever is moved in a clockwise direction. On releasing the lever 52 the valve 12 opens.
