880,031. Hauling railed vehicles. JOCHUMS, A., and WITTKOP, E., [trading as HAUHINCO MASCHINENFABRIK G. HAUSSHERR JOCHUMS & CO.]. Feb. 6, 1959 [Feb. 10, 1958], No. 4239/59. Class 104 (2). In a mine truck-propelling apparatus in which the movable parts of side-by-side hydraulically actuated cylinders 6<SP>1</SP>, 6<SP>11</SP> and piston 5 devices are connected to one another by a chain 20 guided over rollers 18, 19 and in their rear end positions effect reversal of the devices; the apparatus is characterized in that the pistons 5 are fixed, the cylinders 6<SP>1</SP>, 6<SP>11</SP> which carry one or more driving elements 8 directly or through carriages 9 connected with them, are movable and the chain 20 is connected with the cylinders 6<SP>1</SP>, 6<SP>11</SP> by means of detachable members so that the spacing of the cylinders 6<SP>1</SP>, 6<SP>11</SP> from one another and hence their stroke is variable. In the arrangement shown in Figs. 1 and 2, each cylinder 6<SP>1</SP>, 6<SP>11</SP> has at its rear end a projection 21 which is attached to the side-bar chain 20 in such a manner that one cylinder 6<SP>1</SP> is moved rearwardly on a non-working while the other cylinder 6<SP>11</SP> is moved forwardly on a working stroke and vice versa. Each cylinder 6<SP>1</SP>, 6<SP>11</SP> is also provided at its rear end with a stop 23 which co-operates with a reversing member 24 effecting the supply of pressure fluid through ports 14 at the base of the hollow pistons 5. The position of the connection of the projections 21 in the chain 20 can be varied to alter the distance b between the projections 21 and hence the driving stroke of the cylinders 6<SP>1</SP>, 6<SP>11</SP> can be varied.
