1307067 Hydraulic or pneumatic reciprocating motors NON-IMPACT SURFACES Ltd 18 May 1970 [19 May 1969] 25515/69 Headings F1A F1M A fluid operated motor comprises a piston 11 having a changeover valve assembly 15, and a closed cylinder 10 provided with adjustable abutments 35 which co-operate with the valve assembly to effect changeover. Fluid is supplied to the valve assembly through a passage 13 in the piston rod 12 and is exhausted through a passage 13a also in the piston rod 12. The valve assembly 15 is shown in the position for leftward movement of the piston. In this position fluid from the passage 13 passes through a passage 14 into the cylinder space 18 and fluid in the cylinder space 17 exhausts through a passage 21, a groove 21a in the assembly 15, and finally the passage 13a. Abutment of the valve assembly 15 with the left abutment 35 opens passage 14 to cylinder space 17 and closes communication between the passage 14 and the cylinder space 18. To enable the motor to start in any position, a pilot passage 27, 29, 30 is provided for delivering fluid into the cylinder space 18. As pressure builds up in this space the valve assembly is displaced to the position shown in which it receives fluid directly from the passage 14.
