Abstract

879,294. Sewing-machines. SINGER MANUFACTURING CO. Oct. 17, 1958 [Oct. 24, 1957], No. 33212/58. Class .112 [Also in Group XXV]. A sewing-machine seam guide comprises a seam guide arm 34, a body 32 and a clamping screw 33. The body is provided with a pair of upstanding fingers 42 defining a groove which receives the arm 34. The clamping screw has a shank 44 located in a recess 39 in the body and has an annular groove 51 received in a slot 58 in the arm. To disassemble the guide the arm is moved to bring the wider part 59 of the slot 58 adjacent the clamping screw, a raised finger 61 on the arm being first manually pressed down to clear the rim 48 of the screw head and so permit the flange 46 to move into the part 59 to allow separation of the parts. The arm is flexible to allow its work-guiding foot 54 to move up with the presser foot when the latter is raised. By rotating the arm 34 about its screw 33 the seam guide can be used to stitch a curved seam.
