877,991. Acoustic impedances. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Nov. 20, 1958 [Dec. 9, 1957], No. 38229/57. Class 40(8) [Also in Group XXXVI] A mounting unit for electrical components (see Group XXXVI) includes a delay line. A subframe 5 carries a magneto-strictive delay line 19 mounted on rubber blocks 21. The delay line has input and output coils 24, 25 and associated magnets 26, 27. The length of the line may be adjusted coarsely by moving a clamping device 22 through holes 28, Fig. 2, and finely by turning knurled wheel 31. In a second embodiment, Fig. 3, a longer delay line 19<SP>1</SP> is positioned on strips of polytetra fluoroethylene. Supporting members 33 are adjustable along slots 34. Coil 24 may be moved along slot 35 for coarse adjustment, fine adjustment being effected by rotating rod 30 with the aid of a screwdriver. Temperature compensation is provided by a bimetallic strip 37 in the manner described in Specification 845,656. Specification 877,992 also is referred to.
