Abstract
877,616. Two-part couplings. AMP Inc. Sept. 28, 1959 [Oct. 15, 1958], No. 32932/58. Class 38 (1). A plug connector made from a sheet-metal blank includes a ring 16 which is of larger diameter than the nose 13 and which prevents the plug from being inserted so far into a sleeve 8 as to interfere with the insertion of another plug into the other end of the sleeve. The ring also provides a part to engage with the jaws of a pliers-type tool for inserting the plugs into connector sleeves. Crimped portions 14, 15 grip wire strands 7a and the conductor insulation 7 respectively. The shoulder 13b of the plug engages behind dimples 10 formed in the sleeve 8 which is surrounded by a sleeve 9 of rubber or the like.
