Abstract

877,164. Washing-machines. WESTING- HOUSE ELECTRIC CORPORATION. April 26, 1960 [May 6, 1959], No. 14533/60. Class 138 (2). [Also in Group XXXII] In a domestic type clothes-washing and centrifuging machine in which the cylindrical tub structure 14, Fig. 2, is resiliently supported by coil springs 13 in an outer casing structure 10, the vibrational movement is damped by friction shoes 26 engaging concave plates 24, 31 so that the resistance to movement increases at higher amplitudes of vibration. The shoes 26 are resiliently supported by leaf springs 27, 33 attached to the tub 14 and engage the plates 24, 31 which may be arranged horizontally or vertically on the walls of the casing 10.
