Abstract

876,944. Plant-growing receptacles. ADAMS, L. A. June 30, 1960 [Feb. 22, 1960], No. 6225/60. Class 6(2). In a plant-growing receptacle a container 1 made from material permeable to air and water is enclosed by a polythene tube 2 so that a water film 3 is drawn up between the tube and container by capillary action, a band 6 of elastic material encircling the container at any level to which it is desired to restrict the water film. Air spaces may be provided between the tube and container by forming longitudinal grooves in the container or placing channel shaped strips between the tube and container. In a modification a number of upstanding porous tubes located above apertures in the base of a container may have an inner lining of flexible material impervious to water.
