Abstract

876,766. Percussive tools. FLOTTMANN, F. H., [trading as INGENIEURBURO DIPLING. F. H. FLOTTMANN.]. Dec. 15, 1958 [Dec. 14, 1957; Feb. 10, 1958; Sept. 12, 1958], No. 40418/58. Class 124. A drill hammer has a small tube in a central clearing water supply pipe, the end of the tube being forced by water pressure into a recess in the end of the drill steel. As shown, a central water supply pipe 2 passing through the hammer piston 1 has a small pipe 3, for example of plastic material, fitted internally, the end 6 of conical or globular shape entering a recess 7 in the drill steel, and making a watertight connection therewith. The small tube may be fitted externally of the supply pipe and in either case a spring may be used to assist the water pressure in urging the tube towards the drill steel. A bush 11 may be provided with grooves to allow any air leaking into the space in front of the hammer to escape. The end of the tube may be removable and may be screwed or clipped on to the tube.
