Abstract
876,699. On-and-off castors. FLEXELLO CASTORS & WHEELS Ltd. May 20, 1960 [Oct. 20, 1959], No. 35508/59. Class 52(1). An on-and-off castor has a tubular housing 10 enclosing a spindle 11 retained by a circlip 16 engaging the wall of the housing and carrying a fork 12 and wheel 13, the spindle having at its upper end a part spherical depression 19 forming a seating for a metal ball 20 which is engaged by a cam 23 pivotally mounted, on a pin 24, in a slotted part 22 of the housing 10, the cam being moved by a lever 27 to raise the trolley or other article to which the castor is attached. In a modification Fig. 4 a different cam 33 has a lever 34 formed by bending an extension of the cam through 180 degrees and provided with an aperture 35 for the connection of a linking rod to connect several castors together.
