Abstract
876,266. Animal feeding devices. SEABROOK, R. W. Nov. 30, 1959 [Nov. 28, 1958], No. 38404/58. Class 5(2). An automatic feeding device for animals comprises an angularly displaced drum 2, having one or more adjustable longitudinal slots 2F, situated below a hopper 1 and above troughs 4, 4A, a flap 3C being provided which co-operates with plates 3 to deposit food into each trough alternately. The device is driven by a motor 9 which rotates the drum 2 and an agitator 5, a cam mechanism acting to swing the flap 3C from one side to the other. A water tank 6B is provided and water is supplied as a spray to the food as it is deposited in the troughs by a plug 14A operated by a bowden wire 14B from the motor 9. The tank is replenished by a ball valve 15 and a plug 15G closes an outlet to drinking troughs while food is deposited in the troughs to allow the ball cock valve to replenish the tank, a catch controlled by a solenoid normally holding the ball cock in its shut-off position.
