875,903. Replacing endless bands e.g. in paper-compressing machines. CLUPAK Inc. July 17, 1959 [Dec. 12, 1958], No. 24705/59. Class 96. In a machine e.g. for compressing paper &c. longitudinally &c. without creping it, e.g. as in Specification 727,261, the heavy, broad, endless rubber band &c. 10 is renewed &c. by moving away frame parts, a walk way &c. (not shown), and a guide roll 48 with its bearings 49 and pedestals 50. A stretch roll 32 is then transferred from its bearings 34 to cradle brackets 40. A beam 30 which extends beyond the machine is then raised and supported as a cantilever together with a nip roller or rod 52 and its backing rollers 54 and with rollers 16 and 18, so that they stand clear of the frame structure. The worn band 10 is removed, transfer rods are inserted into the loop of the new endless band and are secured at the front and rear by cables &c. to beams &c., the cables being paid out for lowering the band as necessary for insertion into position encompassing the beam 30 and its associated rollers 16, 18, 32, 52 and 54 which are thereafter returned to their working positions.
