Abstract
874,800. Semi-conductor devices. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Feb. 28, 1958 [March 4, 1957], No. 6547/58. Class 37. A semi-conductor device comprises a semi-conductor body containing a rectifying junction and provided with two or more electrodes embedded in a good heat-conducting mixture of an insulating binder and beryllium oxide in an envelope. In the embodiment a transistor 1 attached to conductors 2 sealed through a glass lid 3 is placed in a viscous mixture of 30% by weight of a polymerized methylsiloxane and 70% of beryllium oxide contained in a glass tube 2. The lid is then sealed to the tube and the viscous mixture compacted by centrifuging. The glass bead 6 serves to prevent heat transfer to the transistor via conductors 2. A crystal diode may replace the transistor.
