Abstract

A photosensitive device comprising a monograin layer of photosensitive grains 21 cohering by means of an insulating filler 22, e.g. of polyurethane, has two electrodes 23, 24 carrying leads 26, 2.7 on one major surface and an auxiliary electrode layer 25 having no external connection interconnecting the grains 21 on the other major surface. The layer 25 is transparent to radiation to which the device is sensitive. A synthetic resin envelope may be provided. The grains 21 may be of Cu-doped GdS, Si, tellurides or selenides, and mixed materials, may also be used. The electrodes 23-25 may be of In or Al.
