Abstract

873,991. Finishing fabrics. LUMB, WALSHAW & WHITE Ltd. Feb. 25, 1960 [Nov. 26, 1958], No. 38039/58. Class 42 (1). Wire teazle rollers are so mounted on a cylinder of a teazling or nap-raising machine that each roller is prevented from free rotation about its axis but capable of yielding to a limited extent about this axis under the drag force of the fabric being treated. Each roller 3 is freely mounted on a spindle or on stud axles fixed in a bracket 5 and is held against free rotation either resiliently by torsion springs 7 compressed between discs 8, 9 or by a frictional drag arrangement. The wire teeth 4 of the rollers 3 are resilient either by construction or by the means of mounting them in the roller and may have pointed or hooked ends. The rollers are arranged in two staggered rows on a rod 11 which is secured to the cylinder, the axes of the rollers 3 being inclined to the axis of the cylinder.
