Abstract
872,203. Automatic temperature-control systems. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Dec. 7, 1959 [Dec. 9, 1958], No. 39665/58. Class 38 (4). [Also in Group XXXVI] The temperature of an enclosure 10 is maintained between limits by the operation of a bimetallic switch 12 which, at each limit, connects a rectifier 13 or 14 to pass current from an A.C. source 11 in one direction or the other through a thermocouple unit 1. The thermocouple unit 1 comprises alternate blocks 2, 3 of dissimilar material, such as P-type and N-type bismuth telluride, connected in series by copper strips 7 so that, according to the current direction, the junctions thermally associated with, but electrically insulated from, copper fins 9 within the enclosure are either heated or cooled to restore the temperature of the enclosure within the limits.
