Abstract
824,347. Thermoelectric devices. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Sept. 30, 1957 [Oct. 1, 1956], No. 29848/56. Class 37. A thermoelectric device comprises a coplanar assembly of P-type and N-type elements 1 arranged alternately between two metallic plates 2 and 3 which have been divided at 4 into small strips so that the P and N elements are connected in a desired relationship. Fig. 1 shows only the top plate 2, and the elements are all connected in series. The plates may be of aluminium and may be divided by spark erosion. The semi-conductor may consist of bismuth telluride, and the device may be adapted for use as a cooling unit for a refrigerator.
