871,864. Knitting-machines. MORAT, F., [trading as MORAT KOMM.-GES., F.]. July 9 1957 [July 16, 1956; Nov. 12, 1956], No. 21721/57. Class 74 (2). A pattern wheel for a circular machine has pattern bits 2 selected by permitting springs 6 to pass through the gap 10 between two cams 8, 9 or 8, 14c so as to project the associated pattern bit 2. The gap between cams 8, 9 may be closed by the nose 12a of a pivoted lever 12 which is controlled by an electromagnet. The electromagnet is energized periodically as determined by the desired pattern so as to move the lever 12 and open the gap 10 to permit the appropriate spring 6 to pass through and advance its bit 2. Alternatively the electromagnet may influence the springs directly in which case the gap between cams 8, 14c is permanently open, and depending on whether the electromagnet is energized or not the springs are either restrained from passing through the gap or are allowed to pass through with the consequent selection of the bits 2.
