Abstract

869,963. Pneumatic conveyers. AMALGAMATED LIMESTONE CORPORATION Ltd. Oct. 9, 1959 [Oct. 28, 1958], No. 34481/58. Class 78 (1). In means for pneumatically discharging powdered or granular material at superatmospheric pressure from hermetically sealed containers an air pipe 15 having an unobstructed cross-section is mounted in the container with its inlet end at, or near, the top of the container and its discharge end adjacent to the outlet 12, the arrangement being such that pressure air passing from the plenum chambers 13 through the porous members 11 rises through the powdered material to the top of the container and then flows down the pipe 15 to discharge into the material between the end of the pipe and the outlet 12. The pipe is mounted slidably in guides 16, 161 and its position is adjusted by turning the nut 22 on the threaded extension 20. The discharge of powder is stopped by lowering the shaped end 24 of the pipe into contact with a seating 25 surrounding the outlet.
