Abstract
869,442. Heat exchangers. COMPAGNIE DE PONT-A-MOUSSON. Dec. 28, 1959 [Dec. 31, 1958], No. 44014/59. Class 64(3) A heat exchanger for . heating air by combustion gases comprises a casing 7 within which is an element E consisting of a substantially rectangular tube having extended surfaces in the form of spikes 6 where the air to be heated enters and leaves the cavity between the casing and the tube, and longitudinal fins 4 where air moves in the longitudinal direction of the tube. Air enters through opening 8 in the casing and leaves through openings 9 whilst the combustion gases passes through the interior of the element E which may have internally extending fins. A line of fins 5 may be provided on the outside of the tube to deflect the air along the tube. In a modification the tubular elements may be assembled to form a bank of tubes.
