Abstract

A dry fire-extinguishing composition comprises 90 to 98% powdered KHCO3, 1 to 5% diatomaceous earth, talc, or soapstone as mineral parting agent and 1 to 5% aluminium, calcium, or magnesium stearate to act as moisture-proofing agent. The KHCO3 may be of size at least 90% through 200 mesh. Preferred composition is 93% KHCO3, 5% talc, and 2% calcium stearate.
