Abstract
868,626. View-finders. KODAK Ltd. Dec. 29, 1958 [Jan. 2, 1958], No. 41841/58. Classes 97(1) and 98(1) In a view-finding or sighting device having a reticle illuminated by light from the general direction of the scene to be photographed or viewed and an optical system, including a semireflecting surface, for causing an image of the transparent area of the reticle to appear superimposed on the scene, the light illuminating the reticle passes through a lenticular screen covering at least the transparent areas of the reticle, the lenticules on the screen being dimensioned to diffuse normally incident light about an angle whose outer limit lies between 20 and 45 degrees from the normal. As shown in Fig. 1, the view-finder comprises a negative objective 12 and a positive eye lens 11 between which is a semi-reflecting mirror 13 which reflects into the eye-piece light from a field defining reticle 16 so that an image of the latter appears superimposed upon the object to be photographed. This reticle comprises a transparent area in an opaque plate 15 on the front of which is a lenticular screen of cylindrical elements or, as described in Specification 706,741, of conical elements. These elements are adapted to diffuse the incident light within an angle of approximately 30 degrees on each side of the axis.
