868,118. Optical projection systems. PYE Ltd. Aug. 30,1957 (Aug. 30, 1956], No. 26547/56. Class 97(1) In order to improve the contrast in the image projected from the rectangular picture area of a cathode ray tube 1 having a part spherical screen 3, the usual concave spherical mirror has a non-reflective rectangular area 8 provided, for example, by a paint layer or an aperture. The screen 3 of the cathode ray tube may have a non-reflecting margin defining a rectangular picture area having dimensions not greater than half the corresponding dimensions of the area 8. 6 is the usual Schmidt corrector plate. The cathode ray tube screen 3 and the mirror 1 are preferably concentric. Specification 627,673 is referred to.
