Abstract
868,065. Washing dust-containing gases. DALLOW, LAMBERT & CO. Ltd. March 25, 1959 [March 26, 1958], No. 9713/58. Class 55 (2). In apparatus for washing dust-containing gases, in which apparatus a sump is provided to collect a slurry of washing liquid and separated dust, a pump is provided to withdraw slurry continuously from the sump and feed it to a splitter tank, in which the slurry is divided into two portions, one of which is returned to the washing apparatus and the other is processed in any suitable manner. In Fig. 2, slurry is fed by a pipe 11 to a tank 8 divided into two sections by a partition 12, each section having an outlet pipe at its lower end. A fan-shaped nozzle 17 is flexibly connected to the pipe 11, and its position relative to the partition 12 is adjustable by a rod 19, so that the size of the portions of the slurry returned to the washing apparatus and processed can be adjusted. The adjustment may be made automatically by means responsive to the solid content of the slurry. In a modification, the nozzle 17 may be stationary and the partition may be movable.
