Abstract
867,962. Agitating liquids; driving mechanisms. LEWIS BERGER & SONS Ltd. Dec. 2, 1959 [Dec. 9, 1958], No. 41020/59. Class 86 [Also in Groups XVIII and XXVIII] An apparatus for agitating and dispensing colours for mixing with white base paint comprises a plurality of vessels 5 arranged in a circle about a shaft 10 driven by motor 9. The shaft 10 carries a sprocket 18 engaging in an endless chain 19 which also passes round sprockets 22 on the spindles 21. Each such spindle engages through a loose coupling 28 a stirrer shaft 27 carrying a paddle 30; the spindles 21 also carry friction wheels 24 which engage with the upstanding wall 25 of a ring 23. When the vessels 5 are held stationary the ring 23 rotates idly; if the ring 23 is arrested, the vessels 5 revolve about the shaft 10 as axis. Selection is made by a lever 8 which actuates an arm 45 (see Fig. 5, not shown) to engage alternatively a stop on the ring 23 or one of a plurality of stops on the segments 38, there being one of these stops for each vessel 5. By this means any desired vessel may be brought to rest over the platform 2 and colour dispensed therefrom into the paint can 3 by maens of the dispensing and metering pump 6 which may be of the type described in Specification 867,963. The vessels 5 with their associated stirrers may be detached for cleaning &c.
