867,730. Anchor-bolts; wedges. SOC. ATELIERS MECANIQUES INDUSTRIES, INDUSTRIES AGRICOLES. Feb. 17, 1959 [Dec. 5, 1958], No. 5509/59. Classes 89(1) and 89(2). An anchoring device comprises a body 1 which, in use, is subjected directly to a pull in the direction of arrow F and supports two or more jaws 4 such that axial movement of the body relative to the jaws causes expansion of the jaws which are prevented from relative axial movement by meshing teeth 4c. In use, the device is inserted in a bore-hole, e.g., in a mine, and the jaws are held by a tube 7 while a chain 2 fixed to the body is pulled to expand the jaws against the bore-wall. A projection 4b on each jaw engages a groove 5 in opposed parts of the body and the grooves diverge towards that end of the device first inserted in the bore-hole.
