Abstract

866,894. Torque motors. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Jan. 5, 1960 [Jan. 7, 1959], No. 339/60. Class 35. Preformed rotor coils 16 of a torque motor or other machine are cemented in grooves 30, 32 in a non- magnetic, e.g. magnesium, rotor 14 which is situated in the annular gap between a permanent magnet 20 and a flux return casing 18, and which is provided with slots 40, 42 which accommodate the coil end turns and also provide a free radial access path for the flux. The rotor is supported on bearings, one of which is shown at 48, 50. A gyro spin motor may be enclosed in the lower part 46 of the rotor.
