Abstract
866,597. Thermal switches. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS Inc. May 21, 1957 [Aug. 1, 1956], No. 16163/57. Class 38 (5). Upward movement of a bowed metallic disc 38 causes the top 43 of a guided slide 40 to press on the convex surface 44 of a bridging member 20 and open the contacts 17, 18, 21 against the resistance of a spring 30. The spring 30 presses on the bridging member 20 by means of a convex projection 25 on a cop 26 which engages the corners 27 of a depression 24 in the bridging member. This arrangement ensures self-alignment of the contacts not withstanding contact " build-up." The switch casing comprises two portions 46, 47 separated by a continuous recess 49 which is shielded from the contact region by a continuous projection 48. Thus contact particles vaporized by arcing cannot be deposited in the recess 49 and tracking is prevented. Specification 178,103 and U.S.A. Specification 2,071,149 are referred to.
