Abstract

866,170. Door closers. NEWMAN & SONS Ltd., WILLIAM, and EDGLEY, N. H. Jan. 1, 1960 [Jan. 7, 1959], No. 581/59. Class 65(1). In a floor-spring assembly of the kind having an outer frame or loose-box 2 in which the floor-spring casing 1 is mounted, the loose-box having a cover plate 6 provided at one end with a slot 7 through which the spindle 3 or spindle-surrounding part 4 projects so that the cover-plate may be slidably withdrawn when the door is in position above the assembly, the slot 7 is covered by a plate 8 releasably.held by a screw 10 passing through the slot. The floor-spring casing 1 is preferably adjustable horizontally in all directions relative to the loose-box, the slot 7 being made sufficiently large for this purpose, and the plate 8 is provided with a large circular aperture 9 which closely fits over the spindle-surrounding part 4 of the casing 1. The screw 10 engages a tapped hole 12 in the casing 1, a washer 13 having the same thickness as the cover plate 6 being inserted between the plate 8 and the casing.
