943,749. Door closers. TONKS (BIRMINGHAM) Ltd. Jan. 22, 1962 [March 2, 1961], No. 7604/61. Heading E2M. In a floor spring for a door adapted to close against a jamb the door spindle 9 has cam parts, e.g. rollers 10a, 10b, adapted to co-operate respectively with levers 11, 14 pivoted in the casing at 12 and bearing respectively against the spring 13 and dashpot 15, the arrangement being such that after the door has opened through a predetermined angle, e.g. 90 degrees,the spring is not further stressed. The device may be used with a door of opposite hand by employing a different spindle 9, interchanging the spring and dashpot, and pivoting the levers at a position 12a on the opposite side of the casing. The casing is mounted in an outer housing 5 adapted to be set in a floor and may be adjusted therein about the axis of the spindle 9 by means of a screw 26.
