864,286. Liquid pressure engines. THOMA, J. U. June 24, 1959 [June 24, 1958], No. 21631/59. Class 69 (2). [Also in Group XXVIII] The bearing surfaces between a relatively rotating cylinder block 1 and valve plate 4 are lubricated by liquid fed from the cylinder by passages 7. The opening of the passages 7 in the cylinder walls are so positioned that they are covered by the piston during at least a part of their stroke and the liquid forced into the passages between the piston and cylinder is thus filtered. The passages may open into a groove provided in the cylinder wall and preferably lead from a point on the cylinder wall nearer to the axis of rotation of the block than the furthest possible position. The valve plate is provided with grooves 9 to receive the liquid and the cylinder block may be provided with a groove where the passage 7 ends.
