Abstract
863,054. Dynamo-electric machines. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA A.B. Oct. 23, 19.58 [Nov. 12, 1957], No. 33906/58. Class 35. In a set comprising two dynamo-electric machines 3, 10 having respective rotors mounted together with an intermediate flywheel on a common shaft 14 and arranged in a housing, one of the machines including brushes and a commutator 1 enclosed in a compartment 2, the flywheel comprises two axially spaced discs 5 which for ventilating the machines have a first air gap between them and two second air gaps between their axially outwardly directed surfaces and the adjacent parts of the housing, the first air gap communicating with the compartment 2 and the second air gaps with the parts of the housings containing the rotors. As shown applied to a power reserve set wherein the machines 3, 10 are D.C. and A.C. respectively and an under pressure is required in the compartment 2 to avoid carbon dust entering the housing, arrows 7 indicate the air stream through the compartment and a duct 9 to the interior of a frusto-conical baffle 16 whence surfaces 8 of the two discs discharge it radially. Disc surfaces 4, 17 impel, with a smaller fan effect, air over the rotors and stators as shown by arrows 6, 13. The air flow speeds can be increased by putting fan blades on the flywheel surfaces 4, 8, 17.
