Class 86 A high speed mixer for powdered or granular materials comprises a container b, Fig. 1, rotatable about its central transverse axis c and provided with at least one internal plane partition a, all the edges except one of the or each partition being immovably connected throughout their lengths to the container wall or walls and the free edge of the or each partition is either curved or has a cut-out or cut-outs, as shown in Figs. 2A, 2B and 2C, such that when the container is rotated the material to be mixed will fall from the of each free edge in thin sheets, to facilitate the mixing. The container may be rectangular in cross-section instead of cylindrical. Partitions may be provided on opposite sides of the transverse axis and there may be opposed partitions on each side, as described with reference to Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown). The free edge of the partition may be provided with open tapered channels, as described with reference to Figs. 6 and 7 (not shown). In modifications, the container may be of crossshape or Y-shape in cross-section, the stem of the latter having discharge orifices and a partition disposed apposite the orifices. When cross-shaped, the container is provided with four partitions, at the intersections of the arms of the cross. In another modification the container 10b, Fig. 10, is rotatable about its longitudinal axis 10c and provided with longitudinal partitions 10a the free edges of which are cut-out or curved.
