Abstract

862,640. Applicators. BISSELL CARPET SWEEPER CO. Feb. 3, 1959 [May 21, 1958], No. 3816/59. Class 19. Secured to a perforated back 17 is a rectangular sponge 20 and bristle tufts 23 that surround the periphery of the sponge and extend below the operative surface of the sponge. The back 17 is secured within the lower peripheral flange 21 of a hollow stock 13. A detergent-containing squeeze bottle 11 is screwed into a bore 12 connected by a duct 14 to an inner chamber 15 formed by an internal flange 16 within the stock 13 and the back 17. Thus detergent can be supplied to the chamber and thence to the sponge by squeezing the bottle which also serves as a handle.
