Abstract

861,999. Spray-producers. DAVIDSON, URWIN & CO. Ltd. May 14, 1957 [Feb. 14, 1956], No. 4663/56. Class 69 (3). A phial 1 containing a medicinal liquid to be atomized houses an atomizer device depending from and attached to a cover 3, and the device includes a column 11-13 with a bore 10 through which atomizing gas is passed under pressure from an inlet 14. The lower end of the bore is closed and the gas flows through a transverse bore 17 in the column and a bore 24 in a flanged collar 18 held in place by a plate 19. The gas stream from an orifice 25 strikes the outer wall 21 of an annular groove and draws up liquid through a tube 28 and an outlet 22 from which it is sprayed. A removable cylindrical baffle 6 with outlets 9 surrounds the device and eliminates the coarser particles, and the fine spray leaves from an outlet 5. With the baffle removed, the spray from the device strikes the phial wall before flowing from the outlet 5.
