Abstract

A composition for treating skin diseases comprises a carrier containing 0,001 to 1 milligram per gram of a compound of formula: <FORM:0859546/VI/1> where R1 is halogen R2 is hydrogen or halogen, R3 and R4 are hydrogen, halogen or lower alkyl, R5 is hydrogen, lower alkyl or acyl, R6 is hydrogen or lower alkyl; A is alkylene or one of a specified list of alkylene derivatives. Examples of the compound are 3, 5-diiodo thyronine, 3, 5, 31-triiodothyronine, 3, 5, 31, 51-tetraiodothyrone (thyroxine), 3, 5, 31 triidothyroacetic, -propionic,- pyruvic acids, 3, 5, 31, 51-tetraiodothyro-acetic and-cinnamic acid. An extensive list of other suitable compounds is given. The carrier may be a powder, an ointment or an emollient base. Other additives such as lanolin, vitamins, hormones may be included. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 782,745.
