A door assembly includes hinged double doors 1, 2 having spring-loaded self-opening means, locking means comprising a coupled pair of vertically movable locking bolts 8, 9 carried by each door which are engageable with fixed sockets 13, 14 in the door surround when the doors are closed, and release means including ejector plungers 17 arranged to eject the locking bolts from their sockets to open the doors, the ejector plungers being operable through levers 21 which are coupled together and actuated through a common actuating bar or member 23 arranged to be directly controlled manually from a remote position by mechanical interconnecting means. As shown, each door 1, 2 consists of leaves 3, 4 hinged together, the inner leaf 3 of each door being hinged to a door frame member 5 and the outer leaf 4 being provided at its top edge with a roller assembly 6 engageable in a track 7 along a trame cross-member 12. The locking bolts 8, 9 are operable by a handle 11 to fasten the door, and each door is biased to open position by a spring- loaded arm 15. The ejector plunger 17 for each door is located in the socket 14 and operated manually to eject the bolt-end from the socket through a pull cable 27. The cable operates on the bar 23 which is pivotally connected to the plunger 17 through the lever 21, and a pin 18 extending from the plunger 17, through a slot 19 in the socket 14. The bar 23 is biased by a spring 24 to the position in which the plunger is raised to its upper position in the socket. According to the Provisional Specification, the release means may be operated by remotely controlled electrical or hydraulic means.
