853,587. Photographic films. AGFA A. G. Dec. 31, 1957 [Dec. 31, 1956; March 9, 1957], No. 40440/57. Addition to 808,629. Class 98(2) The photographic film supports disclosed in the parent Specification are modified in that the di-(monohydroxyaryl) alkanes used in the production of the polycarbonates are replaced at least partially by di-(monohydroxyaryl) sulphones, di-(monohydroxyaryl) ethers or dimonohydroxyaryl) thioethers. Aliphatic and/or cycloaliphatic dihydroxy compounds may be present additionally such as those specified for use in the parent Specification. The light sensitive layer may be silver halide or a bichromated colloid. The support may be subbed with intermediate layers such as those disclosed in the parent Specification. In Example 1, a polycarbonate film prepared from 2,2-di-(p-hydroxyphenyl) propane and 4,4<1>dihydroxydiphenylsulphone is subbed with a layer comprising a mixed acetal of polyvinyl alcohol, benzaldehyde and disodium benzaldehyde-2, 4-disulphonate, and a partially saponified vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate copolymer, and then coated with a gelatino-silver halide emulsion. In Example 2, a polycarbonate film prepared from 2,2-di-(4-hydroxyphenyl) butane and 4,4<1>- dihydroxy-diphenyl ether, is subbed with a gelatine solution containing phthalic anhydride, glyoxal and a partially saponified vinyl chloride/ vinyl acetate copolymer, and then coated with a gelatino-silver halide emulsion.
