853,504. Hand-too) handles. STANLEY WORKS. Aug. 6, 1959 [Aug. 18, 1958], No. 26885/59. Class 61. The handle 2 of a hammer is provided with a resilient grip 3 which extends beyond the handle ; an axial opening 6 having an annular groove 7 is formed in the extending portion and a plug is removably disposed in the opening. The plug 8 of tough plastic material has a portion 9 corresponding to the dimensions of the opening and a flange 6 fitting in the annular groove. The hollow handle 2 is provided with a cap 2a to facilitate the insertion of the handle into the grip. In a modification a reversible plug is provided having a pair of flanges either of which is engageable with the annular groove 3.
