Abstract

853,186. Anti-static coated fabrics. DUNLOP RUBBER CO. Ltd. July 17, 1957 [July 25, 1956], No. 22931/56. Class 140. An anti-static fabric consists of or contains fibres, filaments or threads containing an electrically conductive carbon black and is coated with a layer or layers of a natural or synthetic rubber or resin composition. Specified synthetic rubbers include copolymers of butadiene with styrene, acrylonitrile or methyl methacrylate; neoprenes, polysiloxanes, organic polysulphide elastomers, chlorosulphonated polyalkylenes, and isobutylene polymers and copolymers. Other coatings include oxidized drying oils, polyvinylidene chloride, polyethylene, polypropylene and cellulose esters and ethers. Antistatic agents such as conductive carbon black, or polyethylene glycol fatty acid esters such as polyethylene mono-oleate, triethylene glycol dicaprylate, may be incorporated in the coating. The base fabric may comprise regenerated cellulose, some of the threads or fibres containing carbon black. If desired, the fabric may be woven in stripes, the stripes comprising threads with a high percentage of carbon black. Specification 756,159 is referred to.
