Abstract
852,260. Controlling delivery of yarn from bobbins. PRINCE-SMITH & STELLS Ltd. Aug. 1, 1958 [Sept. 2, 1957], No. 27557/57. Class 120(2). Each supply yarn of a twisting machine passes under a rider such as 30 slidable on spaced guides 26, 27 and arranged to rise and fall in response to variations in yarn tension in order to prevent breakage or the formation of snarls in the yarn. The guides 26, 27 are splayed outwardly at their lower ends to retain the rider 30; each pair of guides is supported on an offset 25 mounted on an arm 19 which is articulated as at 20 for access to the creel and normally held in position by springs such as 24. Each yarn passes from a loop 30 over a double disc tensioner 28 fixed in alignment with the package axis and thence over guides 32 to the twisting unit. A fixed guide 31 is provided to facilitate threading a yarn through the tensioner 28. In the provisional specification each yarn passes through the eye of a guide arm pivoted about an axis parallel to the packet axis. The guide arm has an associated mercury switch which, when the arm drops due to a decrease in yarn tension, closes a circuit to stop the spindle motor and disengage the drive of the delivery roller. Specification 836,470 is referred to.
