Abstract

852,168. Overwinding preventing. BARKER & SON ENGINEERS Ltd., W. H. June 11, 1959 [June 27, 1958], No. 20649/58. Class 78 (2). [Also in Group XXXIV] A safety braking device for slowing down a pit cage in the event of overwinding taking place comprises a plurality of bronze rods a anchored at b to stationary beams c, and reducing dies h which are mounted in a frame i, k and surround reduced diameter portions of the rods. In operation, under overwind conditions the cage g contacts frame members k thereby causing the cage to be braked by axial drawing movement of the dies along the rods. In a modification (not shown) the rods are moved through stationary dies.
