Abstract
851,444. Valves. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. May 29, 1957 [June 5, 1956], No. 17084/57. Class 135. A slide valve, capable of withstanding high temperatures, comprising a casing formed of an upper part 1 and a lower part 2 bolted together, and a sliding unit 3, 4 movable in the casing by external control means 21 so as to open and close the opening between ducts 5, 14, is characterised in that sealing rings 8, 12, 17 and 19 which ensure gas tightness are cooled by fluid circulation circuits 9, 13 and 18 extending in their vicinity in the casing around the flow path. The sliding element comprises a support plate 3 and a grooved cover 4, which may be tightly applied against the upper portion 1 of the casing when the valve is in the closed position by means of a cam 20 attached to the operating spindle 21 which is capable of rotational as well as axial movement. The spindle packing, Fig. 3, comprises two members 24, e.g. of rubber, which are tightly applied against the casing by means of a metallic ring 25 and a screw 26. Figs. 4, 5, not shown, discloses two valves arranged in series.
