Abstract

A polyester resin composition comprises a solution of at least one unsaturated polyester resin and at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer copolymerisable therewith, and from 0,07 to 0,2% by weight of stearyl stearate or the stearyl ester of coconut oil fatty acids. The polyester may comprise a solution of one or more polyesterification products derived from at least one polyol such as propylene glycol or butylene glycol esterified with at least one a -b unsaturated dibasic acid such as fumaric or maleic and a proportion of at least one unsaturated dibasic acid such as phthalic acid or adipic acid and it may be dissolved in a solvent such as styrene, vinyl toluene, or a mixture of styrene and methyl methacrylate. A silicone resin such as an organopolysiloxane known as DC 200 in xylene, acetone, cobalt naphthenate, methyl ethyl ketone peroxide, or lauric acid may also be added. The mix may be applied by spray gun to give a product which polymerizes to give matt, satin, or semi gloss finishes.
