An apparatus for sizing threads having cooperating feeding and pressure rollers 1, 2, respectively, has compressed air nozzles 5 disposed proximate opposite ends of the rollers 1, 2 to blow size away from the end zones of the rollers. The nozzles 5 are slidably mounted on members 6. The roller 1, which receives size from a vessel beneath it, if desired from a roller 3 in the vessel, has a roughened surface and may be heated. The roller 2 has a rubber sleeve 2a which may be covered with cloth.
